The Mariners’ Bullpen: Strength or Question Mark?

Post by Whitcomb »

Seattle, March 2025 – While the Seattle Mariners boast a top-tier rotation, their bullpen remains a question mark heading into 2025.

The Mariners lost a key reliever in Andrés Muñoz, who was traded in the offseason to free up payroll Jay Buhner Shirt. While Matt Brash and Paul Sewald return as reliable late-inning options, the team lacks depth beyond their top arms.

One key player to watch is Gabe Speier, who stepped up in 2024 with a 2.80 ERA in 60 appearances. The Mariners are also hoping that young Tayler Saucedo can take on a bigger role.

"We feel good about our group, but we’ll be monitoring the bullpen closely," said manager Scott Servais. "It’s an area where we might look to add help midseason."

If the Mariners’ bullpen can hold up, it will bolster their chances of competing deep into October.5.
